Abbotts Lagoon - Point Reyes National Seashore

Abbotts Lagoon Trailhead

This trailhead is in a dirt parking lot off the side of the road to Tomales Point. There is a bathroom here with pit poilets.

First Bridge

This is a small bridge a short distance from the trailhead. There is a small pond beside it.

Towards the Sea

As you can see it is rather flat out here. There are a few hills in the distance, but the trail goes around them.

Garter Snake

This snake was only about 6-8 inches long, but it was also brave. In fact, this is the only snake I have ever seen that did not slither away. It coiled up on the side of the trail and held its ground.

Northern Lagoon

Here is the northern wing of Abbotts Lagoon. There is a bench here if you would like to sit a while and take in the view.
