Timberline Lake with Mount Whitney in the Background

This is perhaps the finest view of Mount Whitney's Western side. Timberline Lake is in the foreground. There are lots of fish in this lake visible from the trail.

Mount Whitney from Guitar Lake

Standing at our campsite at Guitar Lake you can look straight up at Mount Whitney. Try not to strain your neck.

Looking East through the First Window

There are "windows" looking east past the needles just before the final ascent to Mount Whitney. This shows Iceberg Lake to the left, Pinnacle Ridge and Thor Peak to the right, and the Alabama Hills, Owen's Valley, and the White Mountains in the distance.
