Did I mention that the views along the High Trail are amazing? There are so many great views of the Minarets, Mount Ritter and Banner Peak that it's enough to make you sick if you are sensitive to beauty. And it goes like this for several miles.

Eventually you will enter a short forested section of trail that will offer some well deserved shade. This comes not too long after a short descent. If you are going to Thousand Island Lake you will soon meet up with the junction.

If you are continuing on to Summit Lake at Agnew Pass you are almost there. Once you emerge from this forested section you will see the last stretch of trail to the pass. Usually when you see this you think to yourself that it must be farther than it looks. But after a long days hike it is good to know that the pass reall is just around the corner.

Agnew Pass offers a nice place to camp with a very well established fire ring. There are even some very crude benches around it. Summit Lake offers a great water source. We saw some people fishing here, though I don't know if they caught anything. There is also a nice spot at the nort end of the pass that overlooks Clark Lakes.

You will also find more proof of the volcanic history of this place. There are volcanic rocks and boulders strewn all about Agnew Pass.
