Descending to the south of the mountain is a much less exciting experience. The trail is like a staircase going down the mountain. The descent to the valley below is long, but steady.
Before long the trail makes a sharp right. At this point there is a clear view of Half Dome providing an excellent place to take a rest. From there you continue down switchbacks to the valley.
Once at Little Yosemite Valley you begin to find more and more garbage and tourists who carry purses, wear impractical footware, and make a sport out of cutting switchbacks. The trail also deteriorates into a clumsy sand.
However beautiful Yosemite Valley may be, you soon realize you are no longer in the wilderness. You find yourself in a near urban environment strangely located in an otherwise wild place.
