Directions:
From Highway 395 drive to Lone Pine. Turn west onto Whitney Portal Road near the Ranger Station.



You probably won't be able to drive very far up the mountain during the winter which means you will have to hike farther.

General Notes and Observations:
A wilderness Permit is required year round, but there are no quotas required during the winter.



Need I say that winter conditions on Mount Whitney can be severe?
